"Greetings from HMCS MALAHAT,

On Saturday January 30th, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Malahat, Victoria’s naval reserve division, will open its doors to the public between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 20 Huron Street in James Bay.

HMCS Malahat is one of 24 naval reserve divisions located in Canadian cities coast to coast. Naval reservists typically serve part-time on evenings and weekends throughout the year, with opportunities to serve full-time in the Royal Canadian Navy ashore, at sea and abroad.

We look forward to the opportunity to connect with our community, showcase the role of the Naval Reserve, and highlight the job opportunities available. It will be an exciting day of demonstrations and activities including rides in our RHIBs (Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boats). Please note that visitors under 16 years of age will need to have their own life jackets.

The Naval Reserve offers the following benefits:

- No contract – you are not committed to a specific period of service

- We pay you to learn an occupation and trade

- We pay you to develop or further develop leadership skills

- Professional development opportunities

- Summer training, travel and employment opportunities

- Possible educational reimbursement

- Promotion and career advancement

- Dental plan

- Pension plan

- Much more

Explore and experience the Naval Reserve. Come and meet Victoria's citizen sailors."
